The village of Ripponden in the Ryburn Valley, West Yorkshire has, for many years, been graced with a number of folk music luminaries, some in the village itself and others in the surrounding area. Many of us moved there to be near to our record producer, the legendary Bill Leader, but also because the housing was very affordable for struggling professional musicians.
We ran a folk club, a village dance, local pub sessions and occasional workshops. More than twenty years ago we formalised our activities under one umbrella which we called Ryburn 3 Step, reflecting the three areas of music, song and dance.
We’re still doing it and you can see what we’re up to on the Ryburn 3 Step web site.
